The Karnataka State Cricket Association at the Chinnnaswamy stadium occupies pride of place for cricket lovers, having  produced  sportsmen who made Karnataka a force   to reckon with.Great players like B.S.Chandrashekar, S.M.H.Kirmani, G.R.Vishwanatha,  Roger Binny, Anil Kumble, Srinath, Dravid David Johnson among others.

Prasanna,  S.M.H.Kirmani, G.R.Vishwanatha,  Roger Binny, Sadanand Vishwanath, Anil Kumble, Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, Rahul Dravid, Suni Joshi, Dodda Ganesh and David Johnson among others.

The Kanteerava Stadium in the heart of the city has produced some of the finest sprinting talents in the country. In women's athletics Reeth Abraham, Ashwini Nachappa and Angel Mary took the track by strom.  Then we have Karnataka Motor Sports Club, pioneering bike and car rallies in India, Based in Bangalore the Karnataka 1000 rally is the most prestigious event conducted by KMSC. Tennis is centred around KSLTA located amidst the verdant green of Cubbon Park. Both Golf Course and Karnataka Golf Association's (KGA) members are on the increase and tournaments are also being organized for the serious players on a regular basis.

Local Events :
 
The Karavali Festival is held in February every year. Organised by the Government of Karnataka, this Festival celebrates the rich culture of the coast. Coastal Karnataka also observes some quaint rituals like the Bhuta (demon) worship, Nagamandala and demon dance.
Sports like the Kambala- the buffalo race and Korikatta or the cock fight are played with much enthusiasm.
