Places to visit in and around Kolar   AVANI  It has a Shankara Matha and a wonderful complex of temples of the Nolambas who were from Henjeru or Hemavati in the Madakshira taluk in Andra pradesh during the 9th and 10th century. According to legend sage Valmiki had his Ashrama here and sita gave birth to the twins at the same spot. There are Rameshwara, Lakshmaneshwara, Bharateshwara, Shatrighneshwara, and also Sita and Subrahmanya temples. On the hill here Agni Tirtha, a pond, and the Ekantha Ramaswamy Temple are also seen.
