Aerobic Exercise
| Aerobic exercise is the heart
of most of our fitness regimes. It is perhaps the most important workout you'll do,
exercising the heart, lungs and cardiovascular system. While many people are actually getting aerobic exercise while doing chores (such as gardening, laundry, vacuuming or washing the car) or having fun playing (skating, tennis, hang gliding or sofa surfing), there are far more who are fooling themselves into thinking these activities are actually aerobic. Heart Rate Monitors are excellent for monitoring your heart rate while exercising, since stopping the exercise to take your pulse is inconvenient and ineffective and your pulse will typically not be the same once you've stopped. Treadmills have always been a solid way to get good, honest aerobic exercise, since you are carrying your own body weight and can set your own pace easily. Excercise Cycles are probably the safest cardiovascular exercise machine for the elderly, anyone with balance concerns, or anybody that just loves to ride! Steps and slides are still popular, and a mini or full size trampoline is a great way to enjoy working out. |
The only way to know is to monitor your heart rate
while doing the activity and see whether you are really reaching your target zone or not.
Also, the exercise must be sustained for at least 20 minutes of continuous elevated
heart rate to qualify for a good aerobic workout. As far as aerobic equipment goes, the Elliptical Fitness Crosstrainers are the hottest new catagory to hit the club and home markets for a long time - and for good reason! They are very low impact, give a smooth and fluid movement and really work you out! Step up to cardiovascular fitness on a new stairclimber, still a very popular item in the health clubs. Row, row, row your way to fitness on Rowing Machine - a perfect total body aerobic exerciser, or try one of the Healthwalkers for a low-impact gentle workout. Take your pool for a jog using the very popular Aquajogger aquatic exercise products - you don't even have to get your hair wet! Aerobic accessories include tunebelts and pedometers, saddle pads and reading racks for exercise cycles, jumpropes and ankleweights - everything you might need for your exercise program! |
